Mark was raised in Hamilton and departed for Dunedin in 1995 to pursue a career in health sciences. He graduated from the University of Otago in 1999 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery.
His first two years following graduation were spent gaining valuable experience in a private practice in Whangarei before shifting to London. Working in Private and NHS practices in and around London during the first year provided exposure to different cultures and many interesting people. London was a nexus of ideas where Mark became acquainted with the concepts of holistic dentistry and integrative therapies. Working in the same Staines-on-Thames clinic for eight years provided the privilege of monitoring work over long periods and observing the development of younger patients. Returning to Hamilton after ten years, Mark joined a local clinic and subsequently entered into partnership to establish a new clinic focused on applying knowledge of development and orthodontic techniques. During the next seven years he was extending the training in implant dentistry that began in London and continuing with his orthodontic education. In 2020 Mark sold his interests in the clinic that he had established and joined Dental Holistix, where he is now applying his considerable experience.
Mark is a member of the New Zealand Dental Association and the International Association of Oral Medicine and Toxicology.
Mark is focused on gentle treatments to minimise discomfort and providing high quality dental care while educating people on how to best maintain their oral health.
Music has been a constant in Mark’s life since childhood and he can often be seen playing cello in the Trust Waikato Symphony Orchestra or singing. He is an avid hockey player and an active participant in church activities.
