Veneers are a transformative option for enhancing your smile. These thin, custom-made shells are designed to cover the front surface of teeth, improving their colour, shape and alignment. At Dental Holistix, we offer high-quality veneers that are durable, natural-looking and tailored to meet your individual needs. Veneers provide a quick and minimally invasive way to address various aesthetic concerns, from discolouration to gaps and uneven teeth.
Veneers work by covering imperfections and enhancing the appearance of your teeth. Made from high-quality ceramic, veneers are bonded to the front surface of the teeth, offering a bright, symmetrical, and aesthetically pleasing smile. This process is minimally invasive, requiring only a small amount of enamel removal to ensure a seamless fit, resulting in a natural-looking smile that enhances confidence and comfort.
The veneer process typically involves four key appointments over a few weeks:

DENTAL VENEERS POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Following your dental veneer cementation, it’s essential to take good care of your new veneers to ensure they last and remain comfortable.
Gentle brushing: Brush your teeth twice daily with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Take care around the edges of the veneers to keep them and your gums healthy.
Flossing: Floss daily, taking care around the veneer edges. Veneers don’t prevent decay on surrounding teeth, so maintaining your usual flossing routine is important. The floss should slide smoothly between all of your teeth- especially where there are veneers or other restorations. Although all of our clinicians check for this, please let your dentist or hygienist know if you are aware of problematic areas.
Mouthwash: Use an alcohol-free antibacterial mouthwash if advised by your clinician to reduce bacteria around your veneers and natural teeth.
Food and drink: Veneers are strong, but excessive force can damage them. Avoid biting directly into or tearing off hard foods, such as nuts, ice, or crusty bread, and cut crunchy foods into small pieces. Sticky foods, like toffees or caramel, can also stress or dislodge veneers, so minimise these as well.
Ceramic veneers resist staining, but the surrounding natural teeth can still discolour. Try to limit staining foods and beverages such as coffee, tea, red wine and coloured sauces to keep a consistent look.
Sensitivity: Some people may feel some temperature sensitivity particularly to cold in the first few days after veneers are placed. This should ease as your mouth adjusts. Desensitising toothpaste can be helpful, but please see your dentist if sensitivity persists.
Avoid clenching or grinding: If you are aware that you clench or grind your teeth, it’s best to wear a night guard to protect your veneers from excessive force, which can lead to chipping or cracking. Consult our clinic if you need a custom guard fitted.
Regular check-ups: Schedule regular dental check-ups to keep your veneers and natural teeth in top condition. During these visits, we’ll inspect your veneers for any wear, as well as your gums and natural teeth for general health.
Professional hygiene treatment: When having professional hygiene treatment, let your hygienist know you have veneers. They can use non-abrasive cleaning techniques and avoid harsh polishing pastes, which helps maintain the integrity and shine of your veneers. Your hygienist will also ensure the area around your veneers stays clean and free of plaque to prevent gum disease and decay in the supporting teeth.
Avoid using teeth as tools: Please avoid using teeth to open packages or bottles, as this can chip or dislodge veneers.
Mouthguards for sports and grinding: If you participate in contact sports or grind your teeth at night (bruxism), it’s important to wear a custom-fitted mouthguard. This will protect your veneers from excess force and reduce the risk of chipping or cracking.
Smoking: Smoking can stain natural teeth around your veneers, leading to a mismatch in colour. It will also significantly increase your risk of gum disease leading to receding gums and greater exposure of the root surface.
